Basic  Daily Prayers

THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done on earth
as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those that trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us fromevil.
Amen.

THE HAIL MARY

Hail, Mary,
full of grace,
the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners, now,
and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

THE DOXOLOGY

Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning,
is now and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen.

THE APOSTLES’ CREED

I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth
and in Jesus Christ,
his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell.
The third day he rose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven,
and sits at the right hand of God the Father almighty.
From thence he shall come
to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy Catholic Church,
the Communion of Saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting.
Amen.

AN ACT OF FAITH

O my God, I firmly believe that You are One God in Three Divine Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

I believe that Jesus Christ died for my sins and will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe all that the Catholic Church teaches, because You have revealed it and You can neither deceive nor be deceived. Amen!

AN ACT OF HOPE

O God, I hope with complete trust
that you will give me,
through the merits of Jesus Christ,
all necessary grace in this world
and everlasting life in the world to come,
for this is what you have promised
and you always keep your promises.

AN ACT OF CHARITY

O God, I love you with my whole heart
above all things,
because you are infinitely good;
and for your sake
I love my neighbour as I love myself.

ACT OF CONTRITION

O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended you,
and I detest all my sins
because I dread the loss of Heaven and the pains of hell,
but most of all because they offend you, my God;
you are all-good and deserving of all my love.
I firmly resolve, with the help of your grace,
never to offend you again,
and carefully to avoid the occasins of sin.
Amen.

Lord Jesus, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.

PRAYER TO THE HOLY SPIRIT

V   Come, Holy Spirit,
fill the hearts of your faithful,
R    And enkindle in them the fire of your love.

and they will be created.

has instructed the hearts of your faithful

R    That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let us pray.
Pour forth, we beseech you, O Lord,
your grace into our hearts,
that we, to whom the incarnation of Christ your Son
was made known by the message of an angel,
may, by his passion and cross,
be brought to the glory of his resurrection.
Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

the joys of everlasting life.
Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

HAIL, HOLY QUEEN

Hail, holy Queen, Mother of mercy!
Hail, our life, our sweetness and our hope.
To you we cry, poor banished children of Eve;
to you we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this vale of tears.
Turn, then, most gracious advocate, your eyes of mercy towards us;
and after this our exile, show to us the blessed fruit of your womb, Jesus.
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.

V   Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.
R    That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let us pray.
Almighty, everlasting God,
who, through the working of the Holy Spirit,
prepared the body and soul of the glorious Virgin Mary
to be a worthy dwelling for your Son,
grant that we, who remember her with joy,
may be delivered by her prayers from the evils that beset us in this world
and from everlasting death in the next.
Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen

THE MEMORARE

Remember, O most loving Virgin Mary,
that never was it known that anyone
who fled to your protection,
implored your help, or sought your intercession
was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, we fly to you,
O Virgin of virgins, our Mother!
To you we come, before you we are, sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word incarnate,
despise not our petitions,
but in your mercy hear and answer us.
Amen.

MORNING OFFERING

O Jesus, through the most pure heart of Mary,
I offer you all the prayers, works, joys, and sufferings of this day
for all the intentions of your most Sacred Heart
in union with the holy sacrifice of the Mass,
and I offer them especially for the intentions of our Holy father the Pope.

PRAYER TO MY GUARDIAN ANGEL

Angel of God, my guardian dear;
to whom God’s love commends me here:
Ever this day be at my side,
to light and guard,
to rule and guide.
Amen .

PRAYER FOR THE DEAD

V. Eternal rest grant to them, O Lord,
R. and let perpetual light shine upon them.
V. May the rest in peace,
R. Amen
V. May the Divine assistance remain always with hem.
R And may their souls, and the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God,
rest in peace.
R. Amen.
