26 Papal Documents on the Rosary.
Here are twenty–six documents given to us by the Popes through the centuries. There were others written also but we do not have copies available for this page. Should we get them they will be added. The number of these encyclical or circular letters is an indication of the importance the Popes hold for the “Most Holy Rosary”, as it is called. With the exception of Pope St. Pius V, all the other Popes are modern, being pontiffs during the past one hundred and twenty–five years. The Rosary is a prayer for our modern times. Pius V (a Dominican Pope) CONSUEVERUNT ROMANI, 17 September 1569 Popes Leo X (1521), Gregory XIII (1585), Sixtus V (1590), Clement VIII (1605), Alexander VII (1667), Bl. Leo XIII Together with Pope St. Pius V, Pope Leo XIII truly merits the title, “the Pope of the Rosary.” Twenty–two of his documents are devoted to the holy rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
