Prayer for Vocations

Every vocation is a gift from God. All vocations come from him. Our privilege and duty is to beg the Lord of the harvest to send labourers into his harvest. We invite you to pray one or more of the following prayers daily, please.   PRAYERS FOR STATE IN LIFE

(from the Liturgy of the Hours) Good master,
let young people discover that way of life
which you have planned for each of them
may they be faithful to your grace and fulfil your will for them.

PRAYERS FOR VOCATIONS #1 O Holy Spirit,
Spirit of wisdom and divine love,
impart to youth Your knowledge, understanding, and counsel
that they may know the vocation wherein they can best serve God.
Give them courage and strength to follow God's holy will.
Guide their uncertain steps,
strengthen their resolutions,
shield their chastity,
fashion their minds,
conquer their hearts,
and lead them to the vineyards
where they will labour in God's holy service.
Amen.

PRAYERS FOR VOCATIONS #2 Eternal God,
Bless your Church with holy and faithful priests,
deacons, brothers and sisters.
Give those you have called to the married state
and those you have chosen to live as single persons in the
world,
the special graces that their lives require.
Form us all in the likeness of your Son so that in him,
with him and through him
we may love you more deeply and serve you more faithfully,
always and everywhere.
With Mary we ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

PRAYER FOR DOMINICAN VOCATIONS Lord Jesus, moved by the urgent need of Priests, Religious and Lay Apostles, and obeying Your plea to pray the Lord of the harvest to send labourers to work for the salvation of souls, we implore You, through the intercession of Your most holy Mother Mary, Virgin Immaculate and Queen of the Holy Rosary, and also through the intercession of Dominic, the holy Patriarch, to increase in the Order of Preachers the number of Friars, Nuns, Sisters and Laity. Pour forth into families and schools the precious grace of the apostolic vocation, and enkindle in young hearts the sacred fire of the love of God and of souls. Prepare those whom You call, and incline them to desire and to ask for that grace. Preserve them from sin and from the many dangers of these times. Enlighten their minds, purify their hearts, strengthen their wills, aid them to cultivate constantly and diligently the divine seed planted in their souls at Baptism, and guide them on the upward path of toil and purity that leads to the summits of Truth. And as you, O Mary, Mother of Mercy and Patroness of the Order of Preachers, did long ago present your servant Dominic to Jesus, so now offer your sons and daughters to Him each day, and make us ever more worthy of our sublime vocation and mission. Obtain for your Order, our Dominican Family, many faithful followers of its religious traditions; numerous apostles, male and female, after the heart of our Blessed Father Dominic, holy and zealous for the salvation of souls. Amen.
